New Women's Head Coach

The women's wheelchair basketball team appointed a new coach recently, hoping to build on recent successes and challenge at the next Paralympic games.
Miles Thompson comes into the fold having worked with the US national team and will be hoping to lead GB to medals at the Paralympics in Brazil.
British Wheelchair Basketball's Performance Director Paul Davies believes that the sport is moving in the right direction under the new coach.
He said: "London was very, very big, the crowd, the level of support, not just in the park but across the country the profile of the sport is higher as it has ever been."
"We only came 7th in London and we were disappointed with the results but not the performance, we've retained the gold medal at the Europeans."
"We've got a couple of young girls in the squad and they are motivated not just to go to Rio but to come home with a medal around their necks."

BBL cup roundup

The first game this weekend saw the undefeated Worcester Wolves take on the currently winless Manchester Giants. Will Creekmore would lead all scoring a double double of 24 points and 12 rebounds while also scoring 100% from the free throw line with 7/7. Manchester would finish with 4 players in double digits for points with David Aliu top scoring with 15.

Worcester would start the game strong finishing the first quarter leading 24-16 before finishing the second half an impressive 24 points in front of the visiting Giants, with a half time score of 54-30.

Manchester would rally back and win the 3rd quarter 19-15 and the final quarter would be the closest yet with Worcester edging 19-17.

While it was always going to be tough for Manchester going up against the Wolves they played tough through-out and never gave up.

Final score Worcester Wolves 88 – Manchester Giants 66


Next up Durham would host Cheshire in what would be the closest game of the weekend.

BIG MATCH Preview: Worcester Wolves host Leicester Riders

The Wolves and the Riders have both got off to convincing starts in the BBL with the both teams facing 'new' opposition in the Birmingham Knights and Surrey United respectively.

The Wolves managed a massive 117-60 win away in Surrey while the Riders crushed the Knights 90-56 at the John Sandford Centre.
The Worcester Wolves recently moved into a brand new arena and will be playing their first BBL game in the arena in Friday's showdown.
Colin Taylor, the press officer for Worcester is looking forward to the clash against last seasons BBL champions.
He said: "This will be the biggest crowd for a basketball game in Worcester ever, and they can play a big part."
"We have a nice rivalry with Leicester in terms of location, but the way the team has come together, we can have a rivalry in terms of ability as well."
